I captured this picture almost two weeks ago (yes that is me in the window). First I thought it was a butterfly but later through my good friend Troy I learned it is an Owl-Moth. This moth was sitting on my bedroom window and believe it or not…it was sitting on the side I was sleeping in my bed. And strangely enough it was the same moth who was flying against our kitchen window were I was standing, amazing because my kitchen light was off. This picture was emailed to my friends and I got such a positive feedback that I decided to make a personal story out of it. My Nocturnal Journey.

This is what my good friend Troy mailed to me and I could find myself in it. Everything written applied to me and I was so amazed by it.

Moth: Relationships; Sense of Smell

Moths are messengers. When they fly around you in great numbers, expect a message to come to you. A single Moth flying around you can mean that what was hidden will be revealed. Moth can cut through confusion, so ask Moth for help when you are being pulled in many directions and are unsure of what project to tackle first. Moth gives you good instincts – when you meet someone, ask yourself if he/she “feels” right. If they feel wrong, walk away. Moth can help you attract a romantic partner; but be sure to trust your senses. If the person is wrong for you, you will feel that the attraction is wrong and may even be repelled by that person. However, if it does feel right, essential oils rather than perfumes or other man-made fragrances will enhance the attraction. Moths are nocturnal so if Moth is your totem you are more active during the evenings and nights.

Owl: Magic, Omens, Wisdom

The owl is the symbol of the feminine, the moon and the night. The owl is the bird of magic and darkness, of prophecy and wisdom. Owl people work best during the night hours. An owl totem gives you the power to extract secrets. Meditate on the owl and things will be revealed. Listen to its voice inside of you. You will hear not what others are saying, but what is hidden. You can detect subtleties of voice that others cannot. People cannot deceive a person who has an owl totem. Owl people can see into the darkness of others souls. Most owl people are clairvoyant because of this ability. It can be very scary at times. Learn to trust your instincts about people. Let your owl totem guide you.

Moth: If I apply the above on me I am definitely loving the night, the way it feels, the orange lights that shine. I feel like the night has more magic, softens the surroundings and makes it more casual, more relaxed. The mystery of the night is what compels me to wonder. As I drive through the night, I see the lights shimmer in the distance, infinite possibilities as the stars above. Also the instincts if someone feels right or wrong.

Owl: I almost always listen to the voice inside me and it always guided me to the right places and the right choices. I also have that feeling of what others are not saying, that what is hidden. I can detect subtleties in the voice but I also feel it in their energy field. I also have some clairvoyant abilities that not yet are fully awoken.

Learning all this I feel that I understand myself little by little, one moth wing at a time. Here some alternations I did with the picture I took with my cellphone.

    • Thanks Troy, yes I was took the picture with my cellphone, me being very close to it and because of the sunshine you see half of my face reflected. Also I want to make a tattoo out of it. Thank you for the kind words.

  1. Here is a poem of mine called “The Moth”

    As a very young child
    She found moths disquieting
    Passing themselves off as butterflies
    Who simply preferred dark colours
But really being no more than insects
    Not proper butterflies at all
    No beautiful colours to disguise
    Just bugs with wings, disgusting

    Her wings too are dark
    So not many see her
    As she moves among them
    Timidly, hiding her colours
    She lives in earthbound withdrawal
    Here in the whispering shadows
Flies only while everyone is asleep
    Hoping not to be discovered

She fears she would disgust them
If they got even a glimpse
    They’d turn and run away
Because her wings are so dark
No, not many ever see her fly
Nor the way the wind, tender hearted
Caresses her wings as she roams the night
Delicate as a leaf on the breeze

Not many see how she plays with the air
Nor how it teases her in it’s turn
Or how the flowers invite her
To alight a moment on their petals
She is simply an insect, yes
But with so many bright colours to share
And she loves to fly too through the night
Even though her wings may be dark

And the others are insects too
But not all of them are the flying kind
